Letter From Our President
When entering Temple University as a freshman, I thought I knew exactly what I wanted out of my next 4 years, and at the time that did not include Greek Life. I had never been against the idea of joining a sorority, but I never put it at the top of my to-do list either. However, after my first weekend of being a college student I quickly realized that I was not sure who my closest friends would end up being and more importantly that Temple was A LOT bigger than I had ever actually understood. These were two reasons that made me begin considering going out for recruitment.
During recruitment I met hundreds of amazing girls from each organization, but something stood out about Alpha Epsilon Phi. When entering the room for the first time, I immediately acknowledged how comfortable and welcomed I felt after a long and somewhat nerve racking day. I felt like it was the first time that I could exhale and really enjoy myself. I am extremely happy to say that I have received that same enjoyment from Alpha Epsilon Phi ever since.
Within my first few weeks of receiving a bid to Alpha Epsilon Phi I realized that the sisterhood was made up of the strongest, most independent women that I had ever met. I also realized that being my complete self would allow me to flourish the most in the sorority because everyone was so interested in who I really was and what unique qualities I would be contributing to the already very diverse group of girls. Through the friendships that I have made in Alpha Epsilon Phi, I have learned more about myself than I ever thought possible because I have never had to hide a single thought or feeling from any of my sisters.
Representing this group of women is the biggest honor that I have had in life thus far. I have found best friends, sisters, mentors and role models through my last three years in this organization. Through a common love for truly getting to know one another, supporting each other, and of course being #mostfun, we have made meaningful relationships that will not only last for our college years, but for the rest of our lives. I could not be more proud to call myself a sister of Alpha Epsilon Phi and I hope that my words have inspired you to find out what Alpha Epsilon Phi could mean to you.
With love,
Meggie McRae
2016 President
